Description:
My PowerPoint shows me and my students using the document camera to enhance a math lesson using counters and a double ten frame. The lesson was a series of riddles to guess the correct number of counters displayed on my ten frame. At times I am using the document camera to visually display the clues that I've already given verbally. I am also showing the correct arrangement of the counters on my ten frames, while the students check their own ten frames for accuracy. Once I had given several riddles the students had to make up their own for the class to guess. When they did their own riddle they displayed their ten frames on the ELMO.
This was a perfect lesson to use the document camera because it brought in the visual piece my students needed to follow along with the riddles. ELMO was especially helpful in showing the final arrangement. Without the ELMO it would have been far more difficult for all the students to easily see how their ten frames should look.
Reflection:
I use my ELMO everyday in my classroom. Honestly, I do not think I could teach a lesson without it! When the students are in their seats or working on the carpet the ELMO makes instruction so much easier. Whether I am teaching reading, writing, math or even an art project the ELMO's ability to clearly project and zoom in on an image is great. I especially love the fact that I can capture images and then use those images on the Interwrite board. My students enjoy using the ELMO too. They just think it is the coolest thing. That's great for me because anything to keep the students engaged in the lesson is a bonus. Everybody wants a turn on the ELMO.
