Teacher Tech Standards
IV. Professional Growth
3. Continually evaluate and reflect on professional practices and emerging technologies to support student learning.
Description:
This year our team shared technology tidbits we learned through the elements learned in the STEP training and our attendance during the MSET Conference. We developed a professionald development mini in-service for our Rosa Parks Staff after school on April 28, 2011. We had 5 sessions available and I lead the Pixie3 showcase. We had two rotations where staff members could choose a session to attend. By the end of the 2 rotations the participants were excited and ready to try some of the new technology things learned during the break-out sessions. As a result of sharing Pixie3 with the staff my principal agreed to purchase the licenses for interested teachers to use next year.
Reflections:
I think this was a great opportunity to bring back the things that we learned at the conference. There are so many new ways for students to learn in the classroom. It isn't fair to not let as many teachers as possible know about it. It was also great that it allowed for anther piece of technology to be brought into the building. I believe that Pixie3 will prove to be a very powerful tool in the classroom at our school.
